Lockheed Martin has received an undefinitised contract action from the US for the foreign military sale of an additional C-130J aircraft to Israel to expand its advanced airlift fleet.
The contract also covers funding for advanced procurement items for a third aircraft and a number of items to meet the Israeli Air Force’s unique operational requirements.

The aircraft is fitted with non-developmental items that include an enhanced service life centre wing, two embedded global positioning systems and a universal aerial refuelling receptacle slipway installation aerial refuelling system.
Lockheed Business Development for Air Mobility vice-president Jim Grant said the aircraft’s multirole and multimission capability and performance would fulfil the unique requirements of the air force.
The new Israeli Super Hercules will be a longer-fuselage variant of the aircraft and will be delivered in late 2013 and late 2014 respectively.
The first C-130J, ordered in April 2010, will be delivered in early 2013.
