C-130J aircraft

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress of a potential foreign military sale (FMS) of technical, engineering, and software support for the C-130J Super Hercules aircraft to Norway.

Under the estimated $107m sale, Norway has requested provision of C-130J technical, engineering and software support, software updates and patches, familiarisation training for the portable flight planning system (PFPS) and joint mission planning system (JMPS).

The package also includes spare and repair parts, US Government and contractor technical support services, and other related elements of logistics and programme support.

Primarily expected to be used by Norway for successful operation of the PFPS and JMPS, the technical, engineering and software support will also enhance the country’s ability to contribute to future Nato operations.

Apart from strengthening a critical, long-term strategic military partnership, the package directly contributes to the foreign policy and national security of the US by helping to improve the security of a Nato ally.

Lockheed Martin, DBA Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Rolls Royce, GE Aviation Systems, and DBA Dowty Propellers have been named as prime contractors for the FMS programme.
