Advanced Military Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Center (AMMROC) has been awarded a contract to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the UAE Armed Force’s fixed and rotary-wing aircraft fleet.

Announced during the recently concluded Dubai Airshow 2013, the AED21.14bn ($5.8bn) performance-based logistics (PBL) contract requires the company to provide full logistics and MRO services, to ensure operational readiness of all UAE military aircraft.

Under the five year PBL contract, all material and maintenance activity will be provided under a cost per flight hour model, which in turn will offer greater flexibility to the UAE armed forces while facilitating ongoing efficiency enhancements.

AMMROC CEO Fahed Ghareeb Al Shamesi said the company has demonstrated progress working with the UAE armed forces, shareholders and partners, to integrate global best practices and processes in the last three years.

”Signing this contract shows the trust that our team has built on current platforms, allows us to further grow our workforce of UAE Nationals, and, most importantly, to support the readiness and strength of the air force for the benefit of the UAE,” Al Shamesi said.

"The services provided under the contract are also expected to guarantee enhanced safety and self-reliance."

Besides ensuring aircraft readiness and deployability, the services provided under the contract are also expected to guarantee enhanced safety and self-reliance, enabling the military to perform operational, humanitarian and peace-keeping missions.

The Abu Dhabi-based company also secured an AED11.5m ($3m) contract to conduct the scheduled inspection and repair of the UAE Air Force’s (UAEAF) 13 AS550 multipurpose military helicopters fleet, FlightGlobal reports.

Established in July 2010, AMMROC is a joint venture company owned by Mubadala Aerospace, Sikorsky Aerospace Services and Lockheed Martin.
