The US Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency (AFISRA) has awarded a contract to General Dynamics (GD) Information Technology to support the Air Force Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (AF JWICS) Enterprise.
Valued at $6m, the two-year task order is part of the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Solutions for the Information Technology Enterprise multiple-award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract secured by the company in May 2010.
GD’s information technology intelligence solutions division senior vice president and general manager Tom Kirchmaier said the company has already delivered joint enterprise communications, cyber security and information technology services that address military intelligence mission requirements.
”With this contract, we will help the air force establish a standardised, joint communications enterprise that supports intelligence community network initiatives and air force missions worldwide,” Kirchmaier added.
Under the contract, the company will provide a wide range of technical support services to help the air force modernise its communications networks and integrate with national-level Intelligence Community Information Technology Enterprise and Desk Top Enterprise initiatives.
IT services will specifically be provided by GD to support the continued operations of AF JWICS from multiple service centres, in addition to assisting the government in operation, maintenance and sustainment of the centres through core services in support of air force missions worldwide.
