Samsung Electronics America has been awarded a contract to deliver its Samsung Series 7 Slate tablet device to the US Air Force.
Under the terms of undisclosed contract, the company will supply the tablets in partnership with Intelligent Decisions (ID) for deployment at USAF bases across the globe, as part of the US Air Force’s (USAF) client computing and servers blanket purchase agreement (BPA).
Todd Bouman, Samsung Enterprise Business Division marketing vice president, said the Series 7 Slate has been designed to address the government’s requirements including strict security, network compatibility, durability, quality and TAA-compliance.
"Highly mobile government agencies such as the US Air Force are increasingly looking for mobile PC alternatives that can meet their stringent purchasing requirements and give their personnel the computing power they need for maximum productivity anywhere they go," Bouman added.
ID president and CEO, Harry Martin, said: "The Samsung Series 7 Slate combines high-end design and graphics with the strength and capabilities of a full-size PC."
Weighing less than 2lb, the Samsung Series 7 Slate is capable of providing the USAF’s standard desktop configuration implementation of Windows 7 Professional operating system.
