AAI Test & Training, Textron Systems subsidiary, has been awarded an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to supply multiple new Joint Service Electronic Combat Systems Tester (JSECST) systems to the US Air Force (USAF).
The $6.1m contract awarded by the Robins Air Force Base in Georgia follows the $7.1m and $11.5m contracts awarded to the company for production and delivery of 25 and 32 systems in May 2008 and 2011 respectively.
The JSECST systems delivered under the new contract will be employed for flight line and laboratory based testing by the USAF, the US Army and other international end users.
JSECST is an Acquisition Category IV joint USAF-USN procurement programme featuring a flight line electronic warfare systems tester which provides end-to-end functional testing capability to determine the status of electronic combat systems installed in or on operational aircraft.
Capabilities of the system include threat representative simulations and technique or signal response analysis in all weather and electromagnetic interference environments.
The system has been selected for use with several aircraft platforms including the A-10 Thunderbolt IIA, F-15 Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F/A-18 Hornet, E-2 Advanced Hawkeye, E-6 Mercury, CV-22 Osprey, MH-47 Chinook and MH-60 Seahawk, as well as the ALQ-131 and ALQ-184 Self Protection Jammer Pods.
