Malaysia may finalise Boeing’s F/A-18E/F Super Hornet contract within the next two years, Boeing Military Aircraft F/A18 & EA-18 Programs vice-president Michael Gibbons said.
Negotiations on the contract have been taking place since 2002.
Boeing has not disclosed the details of the proposed model to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) but did reveal that the contract involves 18 aircraft, as reported by Bernama.
The Super Hornet is equipped with a suite of integrated and networked systems that provide enhanced interoperability and support for ground forces.
Currently, the RMAF operates eight earlier generation two-seater F/A-18Ds.
