India’s Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) is to hold talks over the country’s largest defence deal with the US – inducting ten C-17 heavy-lift aircraft.
The proposed $4.1bn deal, under the US foreign military sale (FMS) programme, will be discussed in a meeting expected to be held very soon.
The talks will include offset proposals of 30% of the total value of the deal and establishing defence facilities in the country.
The Indian Defence Ministry has already approved funds in this fiscal year for procuring the aircraft.
The Indian Air Force is planning to place additional orders for six aircraft after finalising the initial deal for ten aircraft, according to the Press Trust of India.
