Tata Power has received an order from the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) to modernise the Indian Air Force (IAF) airfield infrastructure under the ‘modernisation of airfield infrastructure – phase I’ (MAFI-I) programme.
MAFI-I aims to improve the capability of 30 Indian airfields to better handle the modern combat air fleet being inducted by IAF.
The financial details of the contract have not been disclosed, however, it is expected to be worth Rs10bn ($223m).
Tata Power managing director Anil Sardana said the order signified the company’s capability to support the Indian defence establishment.
The company has been working with Indian MoD and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to provide solutions to Indian armed forces for the past four decades.
