France has awarded ThalesRaytheonSystems (TRS) a contract to upgrade ten ground radars as part of the French Air Force’s integrated air command-and-control system.
Under the €70m ($84.5m) contract, TRS will upgrade four high-altitude TRS 22XX and six medium-altitude TRS 2215 radars, according to DefenseNews.
The upgrade will provide radars with 3D capability in compliance with European Union regulations on electromagnetic emissions.
The technology, developed for the new-generation Ground Master (GM) radars, will extend the life of the existing equipment to 2025.
TRS will spend two years on development and three years on installing the technology modules.
