A new squadron to conduct complex training missions and operate the air force’s flight simulators is set to be launched by the Israeli Air Force (IAF).
A tactical simulator will be launched by the new unit within two years to perform training drills with eight fighter pilots and two others posing as enemy pilots.
The Elbit-designed tactical simulator will include eight compartments similar to an F-16 cockpit, allowing pilots to train in formation.
The simulator will replicate anti-aircraft fire to allow evasive tactics practice, according to Haaretz.com.
The Israeli Defence Forces Planning Directorate approved the new unit, which will begin operation later this year and be specifically tasked with running training drills.
