Aerospace and defence company Tupolev and the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) are set to conduct an official joint testing (OJT) of the Tu-95МС strategic missile carrier with the upgraded power unit.
A division of the United Aircraft Corporation, Tupolev has already delivered the Tu-95MC to the MoD State flight-test centre for the OJT.

The upgraded power unit has been designed to provide the high-speed turboprop production missile carrier with improved aircraft payload, take-off performance, flight range and other undisclosed characteristics.
The Tu-95МС strategic bomber is powered by upgraded НК-12МПМ turboprop engines and Aerosila АВ-60Т propellers.
A modified version of the Tu-95, which has been in service with the Russian Air Force since 1957, the Tu-95МС forms a crucial component of the Russian Federation Armed Forces strategic nuclear triad.
The Tu-95 has been built in many Tu-95 and Tu-142 variants that are in service with the Russian Air Force Naval Aviation and Russian Air Force Air Army units, as well as the Indian Air Force.
