Notably, Computer and Mathematical Occupations jobs accounted for a 23% share of the global aerospace, defence and security industry’s electronic warfare-related total new job postings in Q2 2024, up 6% over the prior quarter.

Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive electronic warfare-related hiring activity

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 23%, emerged as the top electronic warfare-related job roles within the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 6% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 19% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 31% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent electronic warfare roles include Management Occupations with a 10% share in Q2 2024, Military Specific Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in aerospace, defence and security industry accounted for 55% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Huntington Ingalls Industries, Leonardo, Lockheed Martin, L3Harris Technologies, and Northrop Grumman. Together they accounted for a combined share of 55% of all electronic warfare-related new jobs in the aerospace, defence and security industry.

Huntington Ingalls Industries posted 235 electronic warfare-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Leonardo 182 jobs, Lockheed Martin 124 jobs, L3Harris Technologies 84 jobs, and Northrop Grumman 63 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with an 87.99% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024

The largest share of electronic warfare-related new job postings in the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 87.99% followed by Sweden (3.12%) and the UK (2.72%). The share represented by the US was seven percentage points higher than the 81.41% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
