The top five companies accounted for 8% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Thales filed the most electronic warfare patents within the aerospace, defence & security industry in Q2 2024. The company filed 42 electronic warfare-related patents in the quarter, compared with 28 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Huawei Investment with 18 electronic warfare patent filings, General Motors (17 filings), and Kia (17 filings) in Q2 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by China with a 37% share of total patent filings
The largest share of electronic warfare related patent filings in the aerospace, defence & security industry in Q2 2024 was in China with 37%, followed by the US (20%) and Japan (5%). The share represented by China was 0.43% lower than the 37% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
