Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) has signed the first project agreement with Boeing to begin joint research and co-development on data analytics at the inaugural Singapore Defence Technology Summit.
DSTA is a statutory board set up under the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) focused on implementing defence technology plans, procuring defence material and developing defence infrastructure for the Singapore Armed Forces.
DSTA chief executive Tan Peng Yam said: “Under this agreement, we will jointly develop an information management tool leveraging data analytics to identify trends and insights on aircraft performance.
“This signifies our emphasis on tapping digital technologies and working closely with the industry to co-develop new capabilities.”
The new information management tool will enable DSTA and Boeing to analyse flight and maintenance data for the Republic of Singapore Air Force’s (RSAF) F-15 multirole fighter aircraft and AH-64 attack helicopter.
Findings from the joint research programme will be used to develop algorithms for predictive analytics for smarter maintenance and operations of the RSAF aircraft.
