Saab has secured a contract to deliver its airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) system to an undisclosed customer.
Valued at Skr1.35bn ($153.2m), the contract requires the company to deliver its AEW&C by the end of 2020.
The AEW&C has been designed to provide detailed situational awareness that can be used for border surveillance, search and rescue operations, as well as for tackling terrorism and organised crime.
Work under the contract will be carried out within Saab’s business area Surveillance and business area Support and Services.
In December of last year, the company announced that a support agreement had been signed with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) regarding an airborne surveillance system.
In November 2015, Saab signed a $1.27bn contract with the UAE to deliver a new airborne swing role surveillance system (SRSS) incorporating a new version of the Saab Erieye radar system.
