India-based manufacturer OIS Advanced Technology (OIS-AT) has entered into a strategic partnership with France’s Sagem for the production of armament air-sol modulaire (AASM) Hammer Bomb Guidance and Glide Kit in India.
Under the terms of the agreement, OIS-AT will serve as the Indian manufacturer for the weapon system and customise the combat proven AASM Hammer as per the requirements of the Indian Air Force (IAF).
AASM Hammer is a new generation medium-range modular air-to-ground weapon designed and manufactured by Sagem.
The AASM Hammer missile consists of a guidance kit and a range extension kit. The kits are fitted with Mk82 warheads including Smart Bomb Unit (SBU)-38, SBU-64 and SBU-54. The easy to use missile supports operations with 125kg, 250kg, 500kg and 1,000kg bomb bodies, and can be reprogrammed during the flight.
OIS-AT chairman and managing director Sanjay Bhandari said: "We are pleased that Sagem is collaborating with us with their combat proven, world-leading, high-precision munitions guidance and range extension kit.
"With its impressive list of advanced features, Sagem’s AASM Hammer is the foundation for our joint venture to specifically cater to the requirements of the IAF under the government’s Make in India programme."
