The Kuwait Ministry of Defence (MoD) has unveiled plans to invest in the Eurofighter Typhoon programme.
As part of the development, the MoD has signed agreements with Finmeccannica, BAE and the Italian Government for the supply of 28 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft.
Built by a consortium of Finmeccanica, Airbus Group and BAE Systems, the Typhoon’s development is Europe’s largest multinational military collaboration managed by the Nato Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA).
Earlier this month, the Middle East nation reportedly approved $500m of funding to purchase Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s military capabilities.
UK Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said: "This is very positive news.
"The UK and Kuwait enjoy a long, historic and close relationship.

By GlobalData"Kuwait’s decision to select Typhoon represents a vote of confidence in this world class aircraft and will further strengthen our defence and security cooperation over the years ahead.
"This is also very positive for jobs across the British aerospace and defence industry.
"Typhoon aircraft have already been purchased by seven nations around the globe and play a vital role for the RAF in defending UK interests across the world: striking against Daesh, securing British skies, protecting the Falkland Islands and helping to guard Baltic air space."
Currently, Kuwait has 22 operational aircraft units deployed across six nations.
The foreplane / delta-wing Typhoon aircraft features modern avionics and sensors, as well as a defensive aids sub-system (DASS).
It also features distinct weapons, such as the Mauser BK-27 27mm cannon, air-to-air, air-to-surface and anti-ship missiles and precision-guided munitions.
Since 2003, a total of 444 Eurofighters have been delivered to Germany, the UK, Italy, Spain, Austria and Saudi Arabia.
