Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer is considering the Canadian market for its KC-390 tactical transport aircraft used for multiple search-and-rescue (SAR) missions.
The aircraft is being displayed at the two-day 2015 Canadian Aerospace Summit in Ottawa.
The KC-390 is designed to undertake multiple missions such as transport and airdrop of troops and cargo, medical evacuation, aerial refueling and firefighting.
According to Embraer, some of the features of the aircraft, such as high-speed cruise, low-speed flying capability, long -ange and flying endurance, SAR ready from initial concept, high-availability and low life-cycle cost, are especially suitable for operations in Canada.
Embraer Defense and Security president and CEO Jackson Schneider said: "The KC-390 was designed to perform search-and-rescue missions in the most demanding environments since its conceptual stage.
"Therefore we are confident that this aircraft fully meets the operational requirements of the Royal Canadian Air Force."

Last week, Lebanon confirmed the order for six A-29 Super Tucano turboprop aircraft from Embraer Defense & Security and Sierra Nevada.
The contract includes logistics support for aircraft operation and a complete training system for Lebanese Air Force pilots and mechanics.
The aircraft sale, approved by the US in June, is part of a larger package, including infrastructure improvements.
The A-29 Super Tucano is capable of carrying out light air support (LAS) missions.
