Kaman Corp’s Aerospace segment has been awarded a $23m commercial sale purchase order to deliver joint programmable fuses (JPF) for the US Air Force (USAF).
Kaman Aerospace Group president Greg Steiner said: "The JPF remains in high-demand with militaries around the world.
"This order, an add-on to an order earlier this year, is further evidence that the functionality and reliability of the JPF make it the leading bomb fuse for the US and allied militaries around the world.
"This order further solidifies our programme visibility and backlog through most of 2017."
The JPF is manufactured at Kaman’s facilities in Orlando, Florida and Middletown, Connecticut. It is an electro-mechanical bomb safing and arming device, and is designed to allow the settings of a weapon to be programmed on wing in flight.
The bomb is claimed to be the USAF’s current bomb fuse of choice, and is used with an array of weapons, such as general purpose bombs and guided bombs that use joint-direct attack munitions, and paveway kits on a range of US and international aircraft.
