Northrop Grumman has launched a new air and missile command and control (C2) system at the ongoing International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2015 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The Citadel enterprise battle command system is a rapidly deployable and mobile C2 system designed to solve the complex challenge of integrating air and missile defence systems, while ensuring secure interoperability with US and coalition forces.

Northrop Grumman Saudi Arabia chief executive Walid Abukhaled said: "Just as Citadels were well planned and positioned for presenting the best vantage points, our Citadel system offers an unprecedented, integrated view for air and missile defence, so quicker decisions can be made with higher confidence."
Citadel networks weapon systems and sensors are designed to replace older and closed / proprietary air defence C2 systems. They deliver a single integrated air picture to help warfighters make better, timelier decisions for precise engagements and to reduce fratricide.
The system is built according to rigorous military standards to implement cybersecurity for mitigating the latest cyber threats. It decreases single points of failure and provides wider area surveillance and broader protection, enabling commanders to more effectively deploy scarce air and missile defence resources.
