Israel-based defence electronics company Elbit Systems has been awarded a new contract, valued at $65m, to deliver a comprehensive search and rescue (SAR) solution to a country in the Asia-Pacific region.
Under the deal, the company will be responsible for the installation of airborne locator systems (ALS) and emergency locator transmitters (ELTs) onboard a wide range of mission aircraft and rotorcraft platforms in use with the air force, as well as the army and navy.
Elbit Systems Land and command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I) general manager Yehuda (Udi) Vered said: “We are pleased with this contract award to supply a comprehensive SAR solution, attesting to the maturity of our systems and to our market leadership.
“Based on our vast portfolio of radio and communication solutions, already operational with dozens of armed forces worldwide, we are able to provide a technological edge, and we hope that additional customers will follow in selecting our unique SAR systems as their solution of choice.”
The contract will be carried out for a period of three years and is part of Elbit Systems’ comprehensive airborne radio communication solutions portfolio.
As part of the project, the company will also supply thousands of personal survival radio (PSR) systems to the customers.
