The US Air Force (USAF) has awarded a follow-on contract to Boeing for two more C-130 avionics modernisation programme (AMP) kits and spares as well as logistics, engineering and installation support.

The $31m agreement is part of a low-rate initial production (LRIP) contract awarded to Boeing in 2010.

The aircraft upgrade includes a glass cockpit with a head-up display as well as six flat-panel, full-colour displays and night-vision capability.

Work will be carried out at the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Georgia, US, with onsite support from Boeing and installation of the new kits will begin in mid 2012.

The company has upgraded three test aircraft under a previous C-130 AMP contract.
