Pratt & Whitney has been awarded a contract by the US Air Force (USAF) to extend its fleet management programme for F100-PW-220E engines powering the Italian Air Force’s F-16 fighters.
The $6.8m contract will cover maintenance activities for a period of 18-months that includes material, technical support, maintenance, repair management and programme management.
The F100 is one of the most successful fighter engines known to provide safe and reliable power.
The engine powers F-15 and F-16 aircraft worldwide and is currently deployed by 23 air forces.
Pratt & Whitney F100 engine programmes and customer support director Mark Buongiorno said the contract would further help the Italian Air Force to sustain high levels of operational readiness.
