Embraer Defense and Security and the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) have signed a contract to modernise 11 additional F-5 jet fighters as part of a contract signed in 2000.
Under the contract, the company will also supply one more flight simulator for the fighter jets.
The F-5E and F-5F are single-seat and two-seat fighters that were incorporated into the Brazilian Air Force in the 1970s.
The modernisation programme aims to provide advanced electronic warfare systems, new avionics, air-to-air refuelling system, and higher operational capability to the aircraft so that its useful life is extended by 15 years.
The first delivery of the second batch of upgraded jets is scheduled for 2013.
