The Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF) has selected Denmark-based Terma to develop a pylon-based missile warning system (MWS) installation for its F-16 fighter jets.
The MWS installation programme will allow the fleet of F-16 to remain combat-ready for possible future conflicts and is based on a derivative of the Terma pylon integrated dispensing system (PIDS) and the MWS system is the Cassidian Electronics AAR-60(V)2 MILDS-F.
The company will develop the integration of the MWS hardware in the pylons and system control software for the AN/ALQ-213(V) electronic warfare management system.
The company will also install a new full-colour advanced threat display (ATD) and a countermeasures signals processor (CSP) for correlation and threat declaration of signals from the six sensors.
Pylons on stations three and seven of the aircraft are equipped with each three missile warning sensors to provide spherical protection against missile attacks.
