The Indian Air Force (IAF) is planning to procure more than 100 bunker-buster laser-guided bombs (LGBs) from global vendors.
The bunker-buster LGBs will be inducted and equipped on its fighter aircraft fleet to destroy fortified enemy targets and penetrate hard surfaces, according to Press Trust of India.
A global request for proposal (RFP) was issued earlier this year and Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and an Israeli missile manufacturer submitted bids.
Lockheed and Raytheon have offered their Paveway LGBs versions manufactured separately.
LGBs are guided projectiles that use lasers to strike designated targets, concrete runways and fortified locations with greater accuracy.
