AAI Test & Training has been awarded a contract by Cassidian for three model 310A advanced boresight equipment (ABE) systems to support the UK Royal Air Force’s Eurofighter Typhoon EF-2000 aircraft.
The ABE is a gyro-stabilised, electro-optical angular measurement system that has been designed to align aircraft subsystems, such as avionics and weapons systems.
The system allows concurrent maintenance without the need for the aircraft to be jacked and levelled during the boresight procedure.
AAI Test & Training senior vice-president and general manager Bob Peters commented that the system provided warfighters with the required data to ascertain the mission readiness of their critical avionics and armament systems.
The US Air Force, Army, Marine Corps and Navy, along with several allied nations, also use the system for both weaponised and cargo aircraft during tactical and peacetime missions.
