The US Air Force is ready to begin sensor operator training to support unmanned aircraft systems at Randolph Air Force Base located in Universal City, Texas.
The training programme is scheduled to begin on 17 August and the basic training for the first group of sensor operators will start on 21 September.
As part of the training, the sensor operators will control the sensor suite on the MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper while communicating with the deployed service members and commanders under the observation of intelligence specialists.
The 21-day, 3-level Basic Sensor Operator Training (BSOT) will constitute fundamentals, sensors and communication, reference systems, full motion video and operational interface.
After completing the BSOT, the students will join the UAS officer operator candidates in the UAS Fundamentals Course or UFC to develop crew resource management skills.
