The US Air Force has awarded a contract to Raytheon to produce AGM-65D and AGM-65G2 infrared-guided Maverick missiles for Korea and Taiwan under a foreign military sales programme.
Under the contract the nations will receive over 250 new Raytheon-built missiles and associated life-cycle support.
The Maverick air-to-surface missiles family features launch-and-leave capability with a 93% kill rate and uses a combination of seekers and warheads to target high-speed moving and manoeuvring targets with low collateral damage.
Over 69,000 missiles have been produced to date and more than 6,000 have been used in combat by 33 nations.
