The Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) first CC-130J Super Hercules has successfully completed its maiden flight.
The Lockheed-developed CC-130J is the first of 17 CC-130Js ordered by the RCAF.
The CC-130J Super Hercules has greater range, power and reliability compared with previous C-130 models, and will provide increased airlift capability to the air force.
Lockheed has modified the CC-130J four-engine turboprop aircraft, providing new engines, flight deck and other systems.
The first CC-130J aircraft will be delivered to the RCAF later in 2010 and the remainder up to 2012.
