CPI Aerostructures (CPI Aero) has completed delivery of the first batch of F-35A lock assemblies to Lockheed Martin, under a previously awarded contract.
In 2015, Lockheed Martin's Aeronautics division contracted CPI Aero to supply lock assemblies for the F-35A conventional take-off and landing (CTOL) variant.
Under the $10.6m contract, CPI Aero will deliver a total of four different lock assemblies for the arresting gear door on 289 F-35A CTOL aircraft.
The three-year contract also has an option for an additional 459 F-35A CTOL aircraft, CPI Aero stated.
CPI Aero president and CEO Douglas McCrosson said: "Our first delivery for the F-35 programme is a significant achievement for CPI Aero.
“In addition to being responsible for manufacturing the locks, this milestone required CPI Aero, for the first time, to develop functional acceptance test procedures and design specialised testing equipment to validate that the lock assemblies meet the required performance characteristics."
