Charles River Analytics (CRA) has been awarded a contract to improve the US Air Force’s (USAF) technological capabilities in the command, control, communication, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) domain.
CRA is part of a MacAulay-Brown-led team that received a three-year $18.5m contract from the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) to boost the USAF’s C4ISR technology capabilities in November 2013.
Under the software, networks, information, modeling and simulation (SNIM) technical area task (TAT), the company will provide research, analysis, development, prototyping, and experimentation to transition and maintain future systems for the air force and Joint C4ISR communities.
Specific tasks include information assurance, software data and analysis, modeling and simulation, knowledge management and information sharing.
Charles River Decision Management Systems Division senior scientist Brad Rosenberg said the company has grown to be able to uniquely satisfy the air force’s requirement for innovative C4ISR capabilities, especially for AFLCMC’s mission.
"Supporting this programme naturally extends from our prototyping of ISR collection management capabilities, through our support for command and control applications and information services development for the future air operations center weapon system (AOC WS), and beyond," Rosenberg said.

In addition to this, the team will address command and control (C2) requirements in areas critical to national security by collaborating with AFLCMC personnel.
The areas include cybersecurity, integrated air and missile defense (IAMD), agile combat support (ACS), air-sea battle, dynamic aerial networks, non-traditional intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (NTISR), airspace management and next-generation fighter interoperability.
