The Israel Ministry of Defense (MoD) has awarded a contract to Elbit Systems to provide avionics systems and other services to the country’s air force.

Under the $75m contract Elbit will deliver avionics systems comprising battle management systems (BMS) and avionics for helicopters, and virtual training for the Israeli Air Force (IAF).

The company will also deliver operation and maintenance services for the IAF’s Flight Academy, over a six-year period.

The Elbit-built BMS has been designed to perform tasks with optimum precision while serving as an essential add-on to virtually any combat vehicle mounted sensor or weapon system forming coordinated battle teams.

In addition to supporting battalion-and-below tactical unit’s requirement, BMS meets all operational needs, which include direct fire engagement and maneuver, indirect fire support, intelligence and logistics.

The contract is a part of the Israel MoD’s $315m contracts to Elbit to provide unmanned systems, electronic warfare, electro-optic systems as well as avionics and land systems.

Elbit will develop and deliver Hermes 900 unmanned aircraft systems in three years in addition to maintenance services for over eight years, worth $90m.

Additionally, as part of the contract, the company will provide electronic warfare systems for McDonnell Douglas-developed F-15 Eagle aircraft and General Dynamics-built F-16 Fighting Falcoaircraft as well as for the navy’s missile vessels over the next four years, worth $90m.

The company will also provide Cardom electronic and mortar artillery systems for the Israel Defense Forces over a six-year period with a total value of approximately $35m.

Elbit will supply advanced observation and long-range target acquisition systems, worth approximately $25m, over a three-year period.
