The French Air Force has received the fourth and final modernised E-3F AWACS aircraft from the Directorate General for Armaments (DGA).
The AWACS radar aircraft have been upgraded with an advanced communications system, radiolocation equipment, increased capacity for existing HF resources and existing V/UHF, as well as adapted operational mission software.

The upgrades ensure continued interoperability and interchangeability with the AWACS aircraft operated by the Royal Air Force, Nato and the US Air Force.
The French Air Force uses the aircraft to detect, monitor and control and conduct of military air operations.
DGA awarded a €50m contract to Air France Industries to modernise the aircraft in 2008.
