The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a potential foreign military sale for 18 Avenger fire units, 266 Stinger missiles and 290 advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles to Oman.
Under the estimated $1.24bn sale, Oman has also requested 24 captive flight trainers, 18 AN/VRC-92E exportable single-channel ground and airborne radio systems, 20 S250 shelters, and 20 high-mobility multi-purpose wheeled vehicles.
The potential sale also includes one lot AN/MPQ-64F1 Sentinel radar software as well as associated equipment, parts, training and logistical support.
The proposed sale will boost Oman’s capability to meet current and future threats from regional unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise missiles and fighter aircraft, and will also enhance relations between the nations.
Raytheon Missile Systems and Boeing will be the prime contractors.
