Sukhoi’s Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association (NAPO) has delivered two Su-34 frontline bombers to the Russian Air Force for deployment at its air base in Voronezh.
The delivery of the aircraft follows the completion of state joint testing and is part of a five-year contract signed in 2008 to supply the Russian Defence Ministry with 32 Su-34 aircraft.
The Su-34 is a 4+ generation aircraft in terms of operational capabilities and can attack land-based, sea and airborne targets during the night and in all weather conditions using airborne munitions, including high-precision types.
The twin-seat fighter bomber features long-range aiming systems and a modern on-board communication and information exchange system linked to ground control stations, ground troops, surface ships and aircraft.
Aircraft features also include an advanced radar countermeasures and defence system, a complex survival system, an armoured cockpit and an active safety system, along with new computers to manoeuvre and perform precise bombing when under enemy attack.
