Tactical Communications Group (TCG) has been awarded a contract to upgrade the US Air Force’s (USAF) battlefield operations support system (BOSS) testing and simulation solution.

Under terms of the multi-year contract, the company will integrate certain enhancements and install additional capabilities into the BOSS solution.

The upgrades are expected to help the USAF conduct more complex data link testing and simulation procedures with TCG BOSS units that are already fielded across several testing agencies worldwide.

TCG Worldwide Field Operations vice president, Nick Kropp, said the new contract demonstrates the solution’s capabilities.

"We further believe this important new contract award from the USAF reflects their assessment of BOSS as being the best data link test and simulation solution available to meet their comprehensive and complex tactical data link (TDL) testing requirements," Kropp added.

The BOSS is a software solution designed to help military research and development organisations, government test organisations and industry systems providers certify TDL implementations, ensuring interoperability and conformance with military configurations.
