UK Prime Minister David Cameron said that the UK should join France in air strikes on Syria, and he will, later this week, submit a comprehensive strategy against the Islamic State (IS) for parliament’s approval.
In a joint news conference with French President Francois Hollande on Monday, Cameron supported its European ally’s action against IS and believed that the British parliament should take a decision in support of attacks on Syria.
The UK has offered its airbase in Cyprus to France, in addition to air-to-air refuelling services.
The country plans to buy 138 Lockheed Martin F-35 jet fighters and have 24 of them operational by 2023.
Hollande said France and the UK are seeking a political solution for Syria, where Bashar al Assad’s regime needs to be replaced with a ‘constitutional government’.
France has been trying to garner support from its allies for attacks on Syria, after 130 people were killed in Paris earlier this month.

By GlobalDataHollande is scheduled to meet his US and Russia counterparts Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin.
Obama said at the US-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and East Asia summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that the US will continue to lead the global coalition to roll back IS in Iraq and Syria.
"Even as we destroy ISIL on the battlefield, and we will destroy them, we will take back land that they are currently in.
"We will cut off their financing.
"We will hunt down their leadership.
"We will dismantle their networks and their supply lines, and we will ultimately destroy them."
Meanwhile, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that airstrikes by the Russian air force killed 403 civilians, including 97 children and 69 women. More than 380 IS fighters were also killed.
