Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has revealed plans to restructure the country’s Air Force, as part of the continuing reforms to bolster performance of the nation’s armed forces.
Poroshenko said: "I declare this year the year of the Air Force.
"In this context, we will reorganise and increase the efficiency of the Air Forces, first of all, the air defence."
The government will reinstate the armament and air defence equipment and provide training on using the systems.
The East European nation is also set to continue the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) reform by creating the Special Operations Force, restore the Naval Force and develop highly mobile airborne troops in 2016.
Financial supply of contractors will be doubled complying with the state budget that allocates 2.5% GDP to the country’s defence ministry.
