The US and Jordanian air forces are conducting their annual multi-national military exercise, codenamed Exercise Eager Tiger 2014, at an air base in northern Jordan.

Also called Falcon Air Meet, the exercise provides the participants with an opportunity to boost their interoperability and relationship, while also highlighting their own capabilities.

Specifically, the drill offers the countries a chance to participate in friendly competitions, aimed at enhancing their real-life techniques, simultaneously expressing their commitment to both regional security and stability.

USAFCENT commander lieutenant general John Hesterman said Eager Tiger has continued to be the premier US Air Forces Central Command tactical air exercise with Jordan since its inception in 2004.

Hesterman said, "This exercise is designed to challenge our military forces in a variety of disciplines in the air.

"Our goal is to build relationships and capabilities that will bring us closer together and enhance the region’s stability."

Royal Jordanian Air Force major Ali Shabana the service’s partnership with USAF continues to grow with each passing year.

"Our goal is to build relationships and capabilities that will bring us closer together and enhance the region’s stability."

"The idea of the event is not just the competition itself, but the bringing together of people and sharing of ideas. When people compete, they show their best," Shabana said.

The week-long exercise involves competitions, including a weapons-loading event, an aircraft scramble, and a first-run attack scenario, between the different countries’ fighter pilots and maintainers, each scored depending on time, safety and a range of other factors.

Exercise Eager Tiger primarily aims to build the countries’ relationship and partnership, which in turn is expected to help both air forces continue to grow and ensure readiness for any future situation.
