By GlobalDataGlobalEye is Saab’s new multi-role airborne surveillance system. It is designed to provide air, maritime and ground surveillance in a single platform.
The advanced system is based on Bombardier’s ultra-long-range Global 6000 aircraft and features ‘sophisticated radar technology’.
It integrates the Saab Erieye Extended Range Radar with Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft.
Saab president and CEO Micael Johansson said: “Completing three deliveries of a solution as advanced as GlobalEye in less than a year proves Saab’s solid expertise as a provider of high-technology solutions and our focus on meeting our commitments, especially given the current circumstances.
“By handling the entire process, including sensor development and integration, we are uniquely in control of every critical part of this complex programme.”
In 2015, the UAE signed a $1.27bn contract with Saab for the sale of GlobalEye. The UAE Government unveiled plans to deploy the systems as the swing-role surveillance system (SRSS). The UAE placed orders for five GlobalEye aircraft.
Saab received a follow-on contract for GlobalEye in December 2020. It was an amendment to the one that was signed in 2015.
