The US Air Force (USAF) has awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract to New York City-headquartered business Intelligent Artifacts.

Under the contract, Intelligent Artifacts will perform research and development (R&D) on a sensor fusion solution.

The R&D effort is to help the USAF fulfil the needs of critical command and control, battle management, and communications (C2BMC) mission in various domains.

Intelligent Artifacts COO and SBIR lead Mark Mackowiak said: “Lags in data acquisition, fusion, analytics, and distribution can disrupt decision-making processes and ultimately lead to fratricide, loss of target, and civilian casualties.

“There is a need for our explainable, ‘pattern of life’ real-time learning AI solution to provide direct system feedback for better battlespace management and improved tactical decision-making.”
