The US State Department has cleared the sale of four weapons-ready MQ-9B Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) to Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO).
The sale includes related equipment and is estimated to be $600m.

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has also notified Congress about the sale.
Under the deal, TERCO requested the sale of two fixed ground control stations, two mobile ground control stations and 14 embedded global positioning system/inertial navigations systems (EGI) with selective availability anti-spoofing module (SAASM).
Additionally, the proposed sale package includes MX-20 multi-spectral targeting systems and spares, SeaVue maritime multi-role patrol radars, SAGE 750 electronic surveillance measures (ESM) Systems and C-Band Line-of-Sight (LOS) ground data terminals among others.
The DSCA said the sale will not only support US interests in the region but also the country’s efforts to modernise its armed forces.

Last month, the US approved a possible foreign military sale of AGM-84H standoff land attack missile expanded response (SLAM-ER) Missiles to TECRO.
