The US Air Force’s two B-1B Lancer bomber aircraft, from the Andersen Air Force Base (AFB), Guam, have returned to the Indo-Pacific region for the Bomber Task Force deployment.

The 28th Bomb Wing, Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, deployed the bombers from the 37th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron (EBS).

The deployment was done to support Pacific Air Forces’ training efforts with allies, partners and joint forces besides for strategic deterrence missions in the Indo-Pacific region.

USAF 37th EBS director of operations Lt Col Robert Horstmann said: “These missions enable our crews to maintain a high state of readiness and proficiency.

“That is why we do these deployments, to continue challenging ourselves and proving assurance to our allies and partners for a free and open Indo-Pacific.”

Prior to their arrival in Guam, the B-1s Lancers integrated with the fighters from Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) in the Sea of Japan.

In August, USAF B-1B Lancer bomber aircraft conducted a bilateral mission with JASDF and a joint mission with the US Navy in the Indo-Pacific region.

In July, two USAF B-1B Lancers conducted bilateral bomber task force operations in the Indo-Pacific region from the Andersen AFB.
