Cranfield Aerospace Solutions (CAeS) has fully equipped hangar facilities and provides quality maintenance under our EASA-approved Part 145 Maintenance and Part M Continuing Airworthiness and A8-23 Approvals.
We cover all the maintenance services needed to support business, commercial and private customers and offer swift and effective provision of approved technical solutions for ongoing maintenance and support. CAeS also holds Part 21G Production for the manufacture of parts to design drawings and manufacture of components for modifications. We have the privileges to renew / extend the Aircraft Airworthiness Review Certificates under registration UK MG 0657.
Our engineers provide fixed-price checks, conduct investigations and repairs, carry out structural, hydraulic, electrical, avionic and engine diagnosis’s and repairs. Moreover, CAeS offer aircraft pre-purchase survey and consultancy support, aircraft recovery should the unthinkable arise, long or short-term aircraft storage and off-site maintenance should that prove more helpful. Cranfield has a fully equipped and instrument landing system (ILS) approved airfield with low-cost landing fees.
Runway and helideck friction testing
Ensures the safety of aircraft manoeuvring at airports and supports the removal of hazardous helideck landing nets. Detailed assessment reports contain levels of conformance, recommendations, friction contour maps and individual run profiles.
These detail friction properties and highlight zones of interest across the entire runway surface. Runway Friction Classification surveys are generally undertaken at four-yearly intervals but could be on a yearly basis if values fall below the Military Aviation Authority’s Maintenance Planning Level). Friction testing equipment used by CAeS is Civil Aviation Act (CAA) approved continuous friction measurement equipment (CMFE).
Water Ingestion Trials
Operational projects include water ingestion where our unique capability for water ingestion trials at the UK’s only specially constructed facility ensures runway surface water ingested on take-off and landing does not cause power loss or dangerous engine failures. Our facility allows complete control over the number of runs, direction and depth of water required to meet regulatory requirements.
Aircraft Noise Tests
Noise generated by aircraft continues to have an impact and CAeS offers comprehensive noise surveys and assessments to improve design, noise management and assess an aircraft’s compliance with international and local policies and standards.
Aircraft noise surveys include weather, background and aircraft generated noise measurements to allow the assessment of the impact of noise on the environment. CAeS tests Effective Perceived Noise levels (EPNL) for compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations.
All CAeS measuring equipment and proposed test set-ups will be approved by EASA and CAeS will provide a comprehensive test report.
Historical Aircraft
CAeS supports some of Britain’s most iconic historic aircraft and has acted as Design Advisor and Independent Technical Evaluator for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight since 1985. We have also supported the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, the Royal Navy Historic Flight and Army Historic Aircraft Flight.
CAeS has experience in design, analysis, manufacture, modification and servicing on piston engine, turboprop and jet aircraft, as well as metal, wood and composite airframes.
